Ballito Junction, strives to create a safe and healthy environment for consumers, community, retailers and staff always and especially now that the government has called for intensified hygiene measures as the news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to unfold.
“We want to assure everyone that we remain open to serve their needs and are taking all the necessary precautions based on the official recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and South African health authorities,” says Geraldine Jorgensen, Ballito Junction Centre Manager. “The health and safety of everyone at the centre remains our top priority.”
Cleaning at the centre is taking place more frequently. It is being done more rigorously, especially on high-touch surfaces, using the prescribed alcohol-based cleaning agents and enhanced methods of disinfecting.
The centre is also in the process of procuring hand sanitisers so that it can introduce additional sanitation stations for the upkeep of personal hygiene. Communication elements will also be placed at entrances to educate and encourage safe hygiene practice.
“Everything we do also considers social distancing recommendations, and our housekeeping, security and management staff has been trained in personal hygiene protocols,” adds Jorgensen.
Shoppers are encouraged to practice healthy habits, including washing their hands frequently and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds at a time, covering their coughs and sneezes with a flexed elbow or tissue that is then carefully disposed of straight away. Other good habits include avoiding shaking hands and not touching your face with unwashed hands.
“Ballito Junction plans to continue to operate as normal, albeit with extra precautions, and should anything change we will immediately update our community,” notes Jorgensen.
